Fumed Silica Core + film covering The core of the insulation panel consists of pressed powder, whose main component is micro-porous silica. Other components include opacifiers to minimise infrared radiation, and cellulose fibres to improve mechanical stability. Vacuum insulation has a long service life The panel core is non-flammable and has been assigned fire class A1 Vacuum insulation panels (VIP) do need significantly less space than conventional insulation (such as mineral wool) material. Our panels only need one fifth of the thickness of conventional insulating materials to achieve comparable insulation values. In both cases the core material is wrapped in a metal coated foil and the air inside was evacuated. Of course the goal of both applications is different
Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs) are generally composed by silica powder, a core material of polyurthane foams or glass/mineral fibres, and a sealed barrier envelope in which a certain vacuum degree (generally between 0.1 and 10 mbar) is created. One of the most common materials used as VIPs core is represented by nanoporous silica materials. This family of materials includes fumed silica, precipitated silica and granular aerogel. Fumed Silica (FS) has his largest pore size of ~ 300 nm that is...

Microporous insulation is silica based material in the form of compacted powder or fibers with an average interconnecting pore size comparable to or below the mean free path of air molecules at standard atmospheric pressure. Microporous insulation may contain opacifiers to reduce the amount of radiant heat transmitted. This composition results in a material with exceptionally low thermal conductivity (lower than dormant air). Each board is individually encapsulated in polyethylene foil to make...
